NamWater was registered as a company on 9 December 1997 and started operating on 1 April 1998. We are a commercialised water utility, not a privatised one: the Government of the Republic of Namibia is our sole shareholder and acts through a Board of Directors.
We supply water in bulk to industries, government institutions, municipalities, local authorities, mines and the Directorate of Water Supply and Sanitation Coordination, which serves rural communities.
Provide water and related services to the satisfaction of all stakeholders, considering the environment and the scarcity of water.
Water for All, Forever!
Our services are delivered through decentralised Business Units: North, Central, Coastal and South.

We abstract, treat and convey water in bulk to municipalities, local authorities, mines, industries and the Directorate of Water Supply and Sanitation Coordination for rural communities.

Of the rain that falls on Namibia, about 83% evaporates, 14% is lost through transpiration, 2% runs off in rivers and only 1% seeps underground to recharge aquifers. Our hydrologists monitor and plan every drop.

The NamWater Laboratory in Windhoek offers water quality analysis on request. Our qualified staff and modern equipment help the public understand the quality of the water they use.

Untreated water can carry organisms such as Cryptosporidium, which cause illness and can be life-threatening for infants, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems. We purify water so it is safe to drink.

Under the Namibia Water Sector Support Programme (NWSSP), supported by the African Development Bank, we are expanding capacity where it is needed most.
Each Business Unit is headed by a Chief Water Supply based in its area. Find the office closest to you.
Our procurement follows the Public Procurement Act, 2015 (Act No. 15 of 2015) and its regulations. Under the Act, tenders are called bids. Bidding documents are free to download unless stated otherwise.
