NamWater warns vendors about people impersonating Procurement Management Unit officials and asking for payment in exchange for contracts.
NamWater's Procurement Management Unit has warned all vendors about a scam in which individuals pretend to be NamWater procurement officials.
The scammers contact vendors, claim to represent NamWater and falsely promise procurement contracts in exchange for payment or "facilitation fees". Some use the names of real NamWater staff and share forged documents to appear credible.
NamWater does not ask vendors for any payment in exchange for procurement opportunities. All procurement follows the Public Procurement Act, 2015 (Act 15 of 2015), as amended, through transparent, competitive and fair procedures.
What Vendors Should Do
- Do not respond to any request for payment in exchange for the award of bids or other procurement opportunities.
- Do not share confidential information with anyone claiming to represent NamWater if you are unsure of their identity.
- Remember that all official NamWater communication comes through formal channels and email addresses ending in @namwater.com.na.

- Report suspicious activity or communication immediately.
